I'm sorry it has taken almost an entire month past your first birthday to write this to you. It may be late, but it's sincere.
Dear Scotlyn,
You have changed our family and our daily lives much, much more than we ever anticipated. You have altered our happiness to an even greater degree that had seemed unimaginable before your little spirit came into our home. We are so grateful and blessed to have you as our daughter and as a little sister for Londyn.
When we learned you were on your way to our family, we were so scared that we would not have enough love to love both you and Londyn. Now, that seems like the silliest thing anyone could ever worry about. We love both of you to indescribable levels. You two are our world.
Right now, you are very busy and love to get into things that you know are completely off-limits (like playing in Buddy's water bowl and climbing the stairs). Going beyond your limits excites you and scares us to death. It also makes us very eager to see who you become. You have a persistence that could help you achieve greatness in life and we hope to see you use it this way as you grow older. Our hope for you is that you combine this with your sweet, spirited nature and do amazing things, while looking for guidance through Christ.
You are extremely smart and are already trying to talk. You say things like "Momma, Daddy, Den Den (Londyn), Hi there, Bye, Hey", and many, many more things, You have a great interest in learning and have already shown a lot of interest in books. We have no doubts that one day, you will succeed in school. We can't wait to see where you go in life.
Your first birthday came and went so fast and the entire day, we marveled in the fact that you were no longer a baby, but a toddler. It went astonishingly fast and it's hard to believe you were the little 8 lb 5 oz. baby just one year ago, like you were here. How did it slip by so fast?
We want you to know that we will always be here for you, no matter what the circumstances. We will love you no matter what trouble you get into, how quickly your dreams may change, or how long you take to find what you're looking for. You and your sister mean the world to us and we hope you believe with all your heart the sincerity of the countless "I love you"'s that we say each day.
Happy 1st Birthday, sweet girl. We love you so much, Scoker-doodle.
Love,
Mom and Dad
